In the article “Thanksgiving Feast” by Mark Smith and “Pilgrims” by Leslie May, the authors use many similarities and differences when explaining how Thanksgiving came to be. Both articles show the journey of the English Protestants, and how they used the Indians to survive. In our essay, we will compare and contrast how the two articles describe the journey.

In the article “Thanksgiving Feast” by Mark Smith and “Pilgrims” by Leslie May, the authors use many similarities. For example, they both discuss the hardships that the pilgrims faced. The passage “Thanksgiving Feast” by Mark Smith mentions they had a meal that consisted of turkey, pumpkin pie, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, and ham. In the passage “Pilgrims” by Leslie May, the passage states that  their meal included of deer, corn, shellfish, and roasted meat. In summary, these two stories are very similar but also different.

The articles “Thanksgiving Feast” by Mark Smith and “Pilgrims” by Leslie May have many differences. One example is in “Thanksgiving Feast” by Mark Smith it talks about the Mayflower and  in “Pilgrims” by Leslie May it doesn’t. In “Thanksgiving Feast” by Mark Smith, the Indians come to help, but in “Pilgrims” by Leslie May the Indians come to fight. In “Thanksgiving Feast” by Mark Smith, the passage states that they eat turkey, pumpkin pie, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, and ham. In contrast, “Pilgrims” by Leslie May they eat deer, corn, shellfish, and roasted meat for the feast. In the “Thanksgiving Feast” by Mark Smith they are called Pilgrims the whole time, but in the “Pilgrims” by Leslie May they are called English Protestants at the beginning. Those are just a few differences that “Thanksgiving Feast” by Mark Smith and “Pilgrims” by Leslie May have.

In summary, the two articles show us how Thanksgiving came to be. Even though the authors used some different ideas, the happy ending in both articles was very similar. I agree with both articles that Thanksgiving is a great time to give thanks.
